Democratic Senator Demands Stand Against President's Call for Executions

Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) issued a strong condemnation of President Donald Trump’s recent remarks suggesting the execution of Democratic lawmakers. In a video statement on November 20, 2025, Murphy stated, 'If you are a person of influence in this country, maybe it’s time to pick a fucking side.' He urged Republicans and other influential figures to denounce the president's rhetoric, calling it 'wholesale incitement, endorsement and rationalization of political violence.'

President Trump's comments followed a video released by six Democratic lawmakers, including Senator Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.), reminding military and intelligence personnel of their right to refuse illegal orders. Trump responded by calling the video 'SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!' and promoted a message suggesting the lawmakers should be hanged.
